Once again - Bernie amazes me! My good friend keeps taking my guitar specs and literally BLOWS THEM UP! I constantly get guitars even BETTER than I had originally commissioned. Bernie is simply THE BEST!!
About this finish. When I was visiting Bernie in the Fall of 2007, I saw a guitar he was completing for one of his artists, Xander Demos, a Pittsburgh native and musician. What was really cool about that guitar was that Xander was working closely with Bernie on the FIRST 627. That guitar had quite a few specific attributes that were unique to Xander, however I noticed Ed working on a very beautiful finish which Xander brought to Bernie.
Bernie told me it was like a 'Caribbean Burst'. I was totally blown away with it.
However - before I commissioned any guitars with a similar finish, I wanted to 'investigate' what was 'generallly' accepted as a 'Caribbean Burst'. What I found was mostly finishes that were blue to natural. I really liked Xander's idea for the blue to green to natural. However, I wanted to slightly change the shade of blue and the shade of green.
On our guitar here - the blue and green are just a slight bit darker and more 'prominent' looking than Xanders. Maybe just a bit more bold.
I must add that the color shading difference
does not
make one guitar better than the other - not at all. It's all abot personal preference - but once Bernie, Ed and I got my colors correct and logged in for future guitars - I'm comfortable and proud to release this first 'Tropical Burst' BSG commisssioned Rico.
'Tropical' just really
nails it
when looking at the beauty of this finish. STUNNING!!
Of course, this is the 627 meaning it has the standard Rico 24 Fret neck but with an extra 3 frets on the upper register. Thus - meaning it plays and feels - traditional.
No longer scale
. Nothing unusual to get used to.
Same 25.5 scale
. No special tuning needed. No special string gauges.
We commissioned this guitar with an EMG 81/85 set, one volume know, 3 way toggle and an EMG PA-2 db boost switch!
The guitar features Bernies slim, fast neck adorned with an ebony fretboard and 'Rico Stars' inlaid in real Abalone Shell.
Of course, the headstock matches the body and also features an Abalone Shell 'B' logo.
Black Original Floyd Rose Trem and Grover tuners round off the specs.
Bernie signed the back of the headstock as usual. And this guitar comes with Bernie's new Chrome-Skin G&G hardshell case with crushed red velvet interior.
The retail price on this stunner is 5795 USD. Our website/BoogieBoard member price is 3795 USD. This price
includes
delivery
anywhere in the world.
The guitar will be priced hundreds more elsewhere on the web if we post to eBay, gbase, etc.
