Fred is the best. He began working with me at BSG back in 2004. Not only is Fred Pittsburgh stage hand, actor and production manager – Fred is also one of the best and most traveled guitar techs in Rock and Roll. He has worked and traveled with Zakk Wylde and Black Label Society, Ozzy, Shinedown, Megadeth, Alice in Chains and many others. When it comes to working on guitars – it’s hard to fine many better than Fred. The other aspect of Freddy is humor. As I’ve grown BSG over the past years since we moved into our office at Ryan Court, we done quite a bit of filming. As video became such an important way to get our message out – Fred has become an important part of BSG and our online presence. In my entire life, nobody has ever had the ability to make me laugh harder and longer than Freddy K. And Fred is a huge favorite with all of the worldwide Boogie Street Family. Here is a link to more Fred Kowalo info on the Boogie Street Website. Personally, Freddy and I are quite different. And we enjoy our differences – trust me! The past year or so, Fred and I have working different schedules and it’s rare we ever get time to kick back and share a story or two like we used to. Last night, I got a chance to sit and laugh a bit with ‘Sir Freddy’. I started shooting the video with the idea that Fred would send out a 30 second greeting to the BSG family – but as with ‘everything Fred’ nothing goes as planned… .

Dan Speicher got a chance to follow up with me a bit here in this video. Dan wanted to follow up on the subject of Bernie Rico Custom Guitars as continue the theme brought about in the broader ‘Decennial’ project last year. Here we discuss Bernie and why Boogie Street Guitars is so entrenched with Bernie and why we have put in place the plans and the degree of dedication to the Rico line of guitars. So check out this short HD video production by Dan and BSG regarding Bernie Rico Jr. . |

It’s always GREAT when Arun ‘Roon’ Datta visits the Boogie Street compound when I’m due for a BSG Video Update – because Roon is just relaxed and a ‘natural’ behind the lens. And while it’s going to look very, very scripted – you will notice as soon as we begin, we get a visit from our good friends Geoff and Wayne. What you are watching is TOTALLY real. Nothing pre-planned. Just some good timing. Lots of good material in this video update including Washburn and Bernie Rico projects and all kinds of stuff. Have at it!

Paul Stanley’s production mgr, Fran Steuber, checks in with BSG

Back in the Fall of 2006, during Paul Stanley’s ‘Live to Win’ concert tour, I was introduced to Paul’s guitar tech and production manager, Fran Steuber. Instant friend. Instant. Well beyond being a great conduit between Paul and myself and all the various projects that have developed since, Fran is just one of those great people I’ve had the chance to meet in this crazy guitar business. Fran has a huge help as he has been an influence on all the Preacher projects we have done. The idea was to get the guitars as close to Paul’s actual stage guitars as possible and I think that together, we have done just that. I’m quite sure that Fran agrees. Besides Paul, Fran has worked for a variety of other artists including Sweaty, Teddy Nugent. And his guitar repair work is well known throughout the industry, just as our own favorite guitar tech around here, Sir Fred Kowalo. As many of you in the KISS circles know, aside working with Paul Stanley for many years, Fran has been able to display his own performing talents including various worlwdide KISS conventions and even performing with Gene Simmons on Gene’s Family Jewels TV show. Fran has quite a guitar collection and he has picked up a few Preachers from us. He has the first PS8500BSG1 as well as one of the USA PS9500 Satin Padauk Preachers. And recently, Fran picked up #16 PS8500BSG2 White Preacher. He forwarded over this picture to me to let me know his guitar arrived safely. As the Boogie Street and Paul Stanley relationship continues to develop, I’ll continue to lean on Fran for his advice and coordination and I’m confident – as always – he will deliver for BSG.

New BSG Video Update with Eric and Freddy K!

It’s always wonderful when Freddy Kowalo is at BSG. Fred and I seem to miss each other at the BSG compound. He is there when I’m not and vice-versa. So when Fred walked in the office the other day – his first words – “Let’s record a video update! Let’s prove I’m alive!” Discussed in this latest Video Update is the very, very, very well received Boogie Street promotion – ‘Give and Get’ as well as the Washburn Paul Stanley PS5 USA Customs. And of course – the Bernie Rico Boogie Street custom guitars in production AND those ‘In Stock’ at BSG! This one is hosted by our friends at Vimeo and this one is in HD as well! I must admit that the sunlight starting shining through the window and may have ruined Fred’s and mine ‘Academy Award’ winning performances… but, it will have to do. thanks for viewing and for all the continued support of Boogie Street Guitars! . |
